A Welcome Pack That Gets Remembered (and What to Learn From It)

A Premium Welcome Pack – and What to Consider If You’re Planning One of Your Own

We created this pack to welcome B&B Press and our services into your life. It’s a tangible introduction to who we are, what we value, and what we’re capable of as a print partner.

Since sending these out, we’ve noticed something interesting (and exciting): people receiving the pack have been getting in touch to ask about creating something similar for their own businesses.

We love that. Thoughtful, printed introductions can be incredibly powerful.

However, some of those conversations have also come with a moment of surprise when we talk about cost. So we wanted to pull together this blog to set expectations, explain the decisions behind this pack, and help you make informed choices if you’re considering doing something similar.

What’s in the Pack?

This pack is intentionally premium. It’s designed to showcase what’s possible when specification, materials and finishing are pushed a little further.

Personalised Notebook

A fully personalised notebook, produced using GF Smith papers, chosen for both quality and tactile feel. Personalisation adds impact, but it also adds complexity and cost, particularly when volumes are low.

Printed Guides

  • Buyer’s Guide – a walkthrough of what we print and how
  • Sustainable Print Checklist – practical considerations for more responsible print
  • Brilliant Print Guide – inspiration and ideas to get the most out of print

These booklets aren’t just inserts; they’re part of the story and the experience.

The Extras

  • Yorkshire Tea
  • Biscoff Biscuit
  • The unofficial B&B combo: Biscuit and a Brew

They add warmth, personality and a little joy – but they also affect weight, packaging size and postage costs (more on that later).

The Box

A bespoke box, specified to protect the contents, look great on arrival, and feel like something worth opening. The box itself plays a huge role in both perception and cost.

Packs Arriving

Why This Is a Premium Option

The pack in front of you is very much a “show what we can do” piece.

  • Premium paper stocks
  • Personalisation
  • Bespoke print and finishing
  • Multiple components
  • Items sourced and packed together

It’s also not something that scales well at very small volumes. If you’re looking to send 20–50 packs, this exact approach is probably one to rule out — and that’s not a bad thing.

Being a bespoke printer is brilliant because there are so many options. But when budgets need to behave and deadlines are looming, we know it can quickly feel overwhelming. The goal isn’t to copy this pack; it’s to design the right pack for you.

What Could You Do Instead?

Here are just a few alternative approaches we often talk through with clients:

  • A beautifully printed folder with one standout insert rather than multiple pieces
  • An unpersonalised core item, with personalisation added digitally via a letter or postcard
  • A lighter, letterbox-friendly pack to reduce postage costs
  • Fewer components, but higher impact finishing (embossing, foiling, special stocks)

Premium doesn’t always mean more. Sometimes it means considered.

Helpful Things to Consider When Planning Your Own Pack

A few practical points that can make a big difference:

Weight

Postage costs climb quickly. Keeping your pack under a certain weight threshold can save a lot — especially at scale.

Size & Width

If it needs to fit through a letterbox, design with that in mind from the start. Think about the contents (no one wants a squashed biscuit… oh crumbs).

Volume

Some processes and finishes only become cost-effective at higher quantities. Knowing your realistic send volume early helps guide decisions.

Creativity

There really are no rules. Add a touch of you and your brand. It doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s pack — including ours.

We Do More Than Boxes

While we’re glad you love the pack and what’s inside it, it’s worth saying: this is just one example of what we do.

Inside your pack you’ll find our Buyer’s Guide, which walks through the full range of things we can print — from everyday essentials to more specialist pieces.

When You’re Ready

We hope this has helped explain why this pack costs what it does, and more importantly, shown that there are plenty of ways to achieve something impactful at different budgets and scales.

We’re genuinely excited about helping you with your next project — whether that’s a welcome pack, a campaign piece, or something completely different.

When you’re ready, we’re here.
