The Challenge
The college wanted a magazine that looked 'classy' but with a bit of an edge that would appeal to graduates spanning in age from 20 - 80+. It was their first Alumni-focused magazine and they wanted to really make a statement and set the bar high. The designer used strong colours for the look and feel of the magazine, they were concerned that it might lose some of the vibrancy during the printing process due to their desired choice of paper.
The Solution
We were recommended to Royal Northern by another client who was aware of our LED UV capability. Our LED UV presses allowed us to produce this job without the flattening of images normally associated with uncoated stock, and giving a highly vibrant product, which is in tune with the high-quality image the Royal Northern wishes to project.
The use of gold foil on the front gave the magazine the luxury feel the client was after.
Since this first edition, we’ve continued to work with the college, they’re now on the fourth edition of their magazine.
Sticking with the eye-catching metallic foiling on the front cover for, on this issue they opted for a rose gold foil. This looks great against the bright yellow which really grabs your attention.
We also handled the mailing of this magazine for RNCM, from print to post we made sure everything about this job was BeBrilliant.
Stat:
LED UV uses around 20% less ink than conventional printing presses because there’s no absorption of the ink into the paper.
The Result
RNCM have kept consistent with cover design for the magazine, it has now become a recognizable part of the college’s brand.
The finish is superb and met all our client's expectations. More importantly, their readership loved it and gave some really good feedback.
