08.03.10 New Decade New Logo
Our company logo has evolved over the last six decades as we have achieved increased performance levels in various areas of the business.
Our latest major achievement has been in attaining Carbon Neutral status for all of our production processes, including delivery mileages and sales calls.
Unlike many companies, who claim carbon neutrality by buying up another company’s or Country’s carbon credits, we started from point zero and formulated our own programme; planting new trees rather than adopting existing ones.
Every single element of our business process was audited for carbon emissions, as part of an educational project overseen by the mechanical engineering sciences department of Sheffield University; the collected data being analysed, and the findings verified, by Professor Chris W Wilson PhD CEng FEI FRAeS FIMechE
From the audited results we were able to determine how many trees we would need to plant in order to offset our total carbon emissions.
We were keen to plant the right kind of trees in the most beneficial location and decided on the species Acacia Karoo in a region of Lesotho Africa. Although the villagers in Malealea need wood for their cooking fires, Acacia Karoo is virtually flame proof so is not at risk of being diverted from it’s main function.
The community of Malealea was desperately in need of help to arrest the high levels of soil erosion that was threatening to deprive them of their livelihood, so that is where the B & B plantation was created with the help of young people from the UK and local volunteers from Lesotho.
This ongoing project has enabled us to demonstrate our commitment to a greener future as can be seen in the latest phase of our logo’s evolution wherein we proudly state that we are ‘A Carbon Neutral Company’
Clients can incorporate a unique symbol, completely free of charge, into all printed matter that we produce for them, stating that the material was produced by a Carbon Neutral printer and thereby eliminating the carbon debts that are inherent in the printing process.
